If You Stretch a Metaphor

If you stretch a metaphor

And it starts to wear thin

Simply fold it over

And stretch it once again

Tape another to it

And then you'll have a poem

If it's placed beside the rest

You'll have a book to show 'em

Stack 'em on each other, 'til

They form a tow'ring column

Call yourself a writer, friend

For you have penned a volume
